Here it is, July 11th, and we were finally able to insure the truck, and trailer and get out on our first mini-vacation.  After the world was hit with the Coronovirus / Covid, and put on pause for a number of months, things are finally opening up enough that we felt comfortable doing a small trip within BC with Travis.  For our first outing we are spending 8 days at the Capilano RV resort in West Vancouver, just below the Lions Gate bridge.

Although this campground is conveniently located near Stanley Park and some other trails near by, overall it is an expensive place to stay with tight sites, extremely slow internet (unless you pay a premium), and no cable tv.  The old rabbit ears seem to working though in order to be able to watch the news.

Getting prepared for this trip was an exercise.  Normally I would summarize the RV in April and follow a regular plan.  This time with the delay it seems I forgot what to do, and had issues with flushing out the storage antifreeze due to leaving the faucets all wide open and water spraying all over the place. It’s all good now though, and the floors ended up with another cleaning to dry up the water.

For the first time since owning our Cougar 5th wheel, we decided to slide out the rear carrier that is part of the bumper and put our e-bikes on the rack back there.  Turns out it must have been too much for the slide-out tray thing to handle as the rails bent on the highway bumps, forcing us to go to plan B with one bike in the back of the truck and the other 2 on the regular bike rack on the back.  It was an effort on the side of the highway to use a hydraulic jack to try and straighten the rails again in order to slide the tray back in.  At this point I can’t imagine what we could possibly use this slide-out tray for, so it’s back in place and will never be used by us again.

When we settled into the campground it was, of course, raining.  It’s nice here now though, and the weather forecast looks promising.  Not sure what we have planned for the day, but a bike ride will be in order soon.
